3D Virtual Production
SAP - Business Suite Release
Unreal Engine & Camera Tracking
While summer is usually a time for holidays, our VAD and production teams were anything but idle! We were busy bringing to life, nine fully bespoke 3D environments for our amazing client, Clockhouse Productions, in Partnership with Thieves Kitchen.
Together, we took on an exciting challenge - to design and build nine unique virtual worlds in just three weeks, and then film six short corporate films in only two days!
The shoot spanned both of our studios - St Marks and Riverside combining pre-rendered video backgrounds with full 3D Virtual Production, complete with camera tracking and real-time rendering in Unreal Engine.
The project was a fast-paced and highly creative journey, filled with innovation and collaboration, and we’re incredibly proud of the final outcome.
What we especially loved about this project was how it showcased the power of virtual production. Using Unreal Engine combined with camera tracking, the team was able to create incredibly convincing interior scenes, complete with ceilings, corners, and realistic depth, all thanks to precise camera perspective. It was a perfect example of how this technology can save production companies’ valuable time and resources, making it possible to shoot multiple interior setups in a single day without building physical sets.
Beyond that, the project beautifully demonstrated the flexibility of Virtual production, bringing a wide range of indoor and outdoor locations into the studio. This enabled the team to seamlessly switch from an airport to a paper mill factory to a cozy bedroom, all without moving crews, rebuilding sets, or traveling between locations — significantly reducing both production costs and the overall carbon footprint.
“From pre-production planning and budgeting, through design and environment build and testing, to the live support on the shoot itself, the whole team at Silvertown Studios were fantastic. Their experience showed at every stage. We asked a lot of questions and they patiently walked us through every one. We were extremely impressed with the whole service.”
