VIRTUAL PRODUCTION STUDIO & LED STAGE IN LONDON
Where Virtual Becomes Reality™
2D Playback & 3D Virtual Production
State-of-the-art LED Volume for Virtual Production and On-Camera Applications.
Where Technology Meets Creativity
Silvertown Studios opened in 2021 as one of the first full virtual production studio / stages, combining advanced 2D playback/3D real-time rendering technology with high-resolution, virtual production-grade LED panels to create stunning on-set visuals. With our in-house Virtual Art Department, we design and build custom environments tailored to each production. From commercials and social media content to corporate films and feature-length projects, we bring the same focus on creativity and quality to every production.
-
Combining advanced Unreal Engine workflows, camera tracking and high-resolution LED volumes, Silvertown Studios delivers seamless real-time virtual production for commercials, branded content and cinematic productions.
-
Our in-house Virtual Art Department designs and builds bespoke digital environments tailored to each production, helping directors and agencies bring creative ideas to life with complete visual control.
-
Built using virtual production-grade LED panels and professional Brompton processing, our studio creates realistic in-camera visuals, natural reflections and immersive environments directly on set.
Proficient Workflow
At Silvertown, all the key teams – project managers, VAD artists, and technicians – work side by side under one roof, making coordination seamless from start to finish. This in-house setup gives us the flexibility to move quickly, make decisions faster, and keep communication clear, so projects stay on track and on budget. With permanent LED stages at both of our locations, we can test footage and 3D environments during pre-production, spotting potential issues early and avoiding surprises on shoot day.
By inviting teams onto the stage during this process, directors and creatives can see environments come to life in real time, refine content directly on the LED volume, and make adjustments well before the shoot. This hands-on collaboration ensures everything is polished, aligned with the creative vision, and fully ready when the cameras roll.
Cutting-Edge LED & Rendering Technology
2D & 3D / Unreal Engine
We offer both 2D video/still playback and advanced 3D Unreal Engine rendering, giving productions the flexibility to choose the right approach for their needs. Our 2D playback, powered by Pixera Media Servers, allows us to fine-tune footage in real time on set – adjusting scale, saturation, contrast, and brightness, etc, instantly.
For 3D environments, we run the latest dual GPU render node technology with RTXA6000 ADA GPUs on a ThreadRipper PRO platform, combined with optical camera tracking for seamless, low-latency performance. To keep everything perfectly in sync, the stage is also equipped with genlock and timecode as standard, ensuring precision from start to finish.
Our high-resolution (pixel pitch 2.5mm) LED screens are built specifically for on-camera work, with virtual production at the core of their design. Featuring a 250Hz refresh rate and ⅛ scan rate, they deliver exceptional image quality without any unwanted visual artifacts.
Powered by industry-standard Brompton processing, the screens provide precise control over camera parameters like shutter speed and shutter angle, ensuring clean, distortion-free results across both film and photography.
Bespoke Digital Environments, Designed In-House
Our in-house Virtual Art Department is made up of a talented team of artists and designers who specialise in creating bespoke digital environments for virtual production. From realistic landscapes to stylised worlds, they craft every detail with precision and creativity, ensuring each environment supports the story being told. Working closely with directors and production teams, the VAD brings concepts to life early in the process, giving clients the chance to visualise, refine, and perfect their ideas before stepping onto the stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
A virtual production studio combines high-resolution LED screens, camera tracking technology and real-time rendering software such as Unreal Engine to create realistic environments directly in-camera. Instead of filming in multiple physical locations, productions can create dynamic virtual worlds inside the studio, reducing travel, weather delays and post-production costs.
-
An LED volume is a large curved LED screen environment used in virtual production. The LED walls display virtual environments in real time, allowing realistic reflections, lighting and backgrounds to appear naturally on camera.
At Silvertown Studios our LED volumes are designed specifically for on-camera work using high-resolution LED panels, Brompton processing and optical camera tracking.
-
Green screen requires backgrounds to be added during post-production.
Virtual production allows backgrounds and environments to appear live on the LED screens while filming.
This gives directors, agencies and talent the ability to see the final environment during production, improving creativity, realism and efficiency.

At Silvertown Studios we offer both:
2D playback environments
Full 3D Unreal Engine virtual production environments
allowing productions to choose the most suitable workflow.
-
For 3D virtual production projects, a Virtual Art Department (VAD) helps create and optimise digital environments before filming.
Our in-house VAD team works directly with production teams to build custom virtual environments tailored to each project.
-
Virtual production costs vary depending on:
Studio size
LED volume requirements
